Army Wife a Taylena one shot

It was my 30th birthday, I woke up and the sun was shining, the birds sang and I could hear my young son Josh snoring lightly from his room, the house was quiet, as always. It seemed to be more quiet on this day that usual. My birthday happened to fall on valentines day, but I was far away from my love My husband Taylor was in the army far away so I never got to see him. When he was home on leave he would wake me every morning the same way. He would sing ‘good morning Selena’ in a soft sweet voice the we together would cook breakfast then go for a walk to the park with Josh or walk downtown to window shop. I never did these things without Taylor, I sometimes walk Josh to the park but never do I play with him. When Taylor home we both play with him and do what he wants. Josh misses his father too, I always ask Josh what I should say in my letters to Taylor and Josh recites everything he wants me to write and I send Taylor two letters, one from me and one from Josh and I always get two in response, one I read myself and the other I share with Josh right before bed. I missed him so much, to be alone on valentines day was hard, but to be alone on your birthday was harder. All though this was the first year I’d spend both occasions alone, I would have josh but this is the first year I’d not get to be with my Taylor. I forced myself go get out of bed and make coffee. As I walked down the stairs i heard somebody run, thinking it was just Josh I continued down the stairs. I got

Entry from: Venice, Italy Entry Title: “Venice in a Day” Entry: “Early morning rise and an easy drive into Florence where the “I have no idea where I am going” syndrome took over. Eventually, thanks to Alan’s directional abilities, the railway station was located, and then a gargage close by that was open until mindnight, since we would be back late. We had about 20 minutes to get to the station so a brisk walk was called for. As it turned out, the train was late, so all was well. Kate, still grumpy from her sleep in the car, turned into an expert on Venice on the train, and took over the guidebook during the trip. I quite like train rides, having a father who was a train driver, and travelled a lot by train when I was younger, but Alan and Kate aren’t so impressed. We eventually made it to Venice and walked out of the busy station into an incredibly busy scene, lots of old buildings and lots of people like any town, but looking onto ac****, not a road. We worked out the wonderful vaporetto directions, bought a ticket, but still managed to go in the wrong direction the first time. No matter, we’re in Venice! No one checks tickets before you hop on or while you’re onboard, so I guess it would be easy to ride without a ticket? Yeah, no vaporetto inspectors (we have tram inspectors in Melbourne). We

Entry from: Pompeii, Italy Entry Title: “Pompeii Awaits” Entry: “The Colonna Palace in Rome has set a high standard; and this morning’s breakfast did not match it. We then walked through what I’ve described in my journal as ‘quietish’ streets to the train station to buy tickets to Pompeii, one of the key destinations for us. The Circumvesuviani might be grotty, but it does run on time, and we arrived at Pompeii about 10am. A guide book with some detailed maps which we purchased from the shop turned out to be the perfect guide for the day. As you walk into Pompeii, you get this feeling that you are about to see something special, but exactly how special only dawns on you gradually as the day goes on. This is a real town, just as it was in AD79. While there was an element of sameness about it, in terms of ruined temples and buildings, there was also a strong element of awe – it is clear that here was the origins of our way of life today, right down to fast food sellers! We made our way to the Forum and markets where we saw some of those casts of people and animals as they died. Lots of ruins and vases as well here. Many, many present day dogs here as well, just lying and wandering around. Then to the Forum Baths – after a detour for morning tea – which was one of the three Baths in town. We followed the
