Confetti Quilt

There are almost 1800 individual pieces and nearly 450 different fabrics in this queen sized “confetti quilt.” Most of the colored fabrics came from small remnants donated by my sister and a friend, but most came from one generous woman who I found through Craig’s List, who donated a brown paper bag filled with odd-shaped scraps from her own quilts and other sewing projects. It took months just to gather the fabrics; to clean and iron them; and to cut and arrange them into a complex color wheel of two-inch squares. The squares were then carefully selected and arranged in various color schemes so that when they were sewn together, the overall effect would be harmonious. All the quilting was done by hand using one simple four-inch circle template. The pattern and instructions for this quilt can be found in the magazine American Patchwork and Quilting (June 2002, p.38-43). To avoid copyright issues, the soundtrack is original (my apologies to George Frideric Handel); the tune reflects my joy in finishing this quilt. I hope you like it!
