I’m trying to make a fitted sheet for a baby’s play pen. I have the top piece all done – it’s patchwork of different Dr. Seuss fabrics. The pieces aren’t uniform and vary in size. I have some iron-fusible batting and a sheet for the backing. I’m not sure what I should do. This sheet will probably get washed a lot.
I’ve never quilted anything before, or used batting, but I’ve made a good amount of clothes so I’m decent with the sewing machine. I’m not good at hand sewing… Would it be a mistake to quilt it along the seams of the patchwork? Should I skip the batting all together and just put the backing on it? I’m not sure how well the batting will hold up to frequent washing. I mainly wanted it there for a little extra padding but it’s really not necessary. If I don’t use the batting can I just quilt the backing onto the top piece along the patchwork seams? I’m nervous to sew across the patchwork pieces for fear of messing up.

How much does it cost to make a quilt ? ( I have all the supplies sewing machine, rotatary cutter, mat, etc) I am talking about thread, fabric ( good quality), and batting for a full size quilt??
I’m a total novice and would love to learn to quilt. I do have a sewing machine so a book with out to quilt on a machine would be nice.

No time line really, I just bought a bunch of Christmas fabric to make a quilt as a gift for next Christmas.
I have more than a thousand pattern books, I buy DMC thread by the hundreds, I have finished doilies stored in plastic bins. I also sew so there is a sewing machine, and materials, and quilting books..I need good ideas, pictures of other craft rooms. Scrapbooking is not my thing so those types of storage won’t work..HELP

I’ve been sewing clothes for awhile now. I’d say that I’m at an intermediate skill level. Now I want to sew a quilt! Can you recommend your favorite quilting books (for beginners of course) and some websites with free quilt patterns & advice? I just have a basic sewing machine but I believe it’s possible to sew a quilt with it, correct? Thanks for the input! 
I was sewing a quilt and the sewing machine stopped working pretty much. The needle won’t go down when the shuttle race cover is in. Why is this? It had been working seconds before.
I would like to make a quilt for my baby boy. I just got a new sewing machine, and have bought my fabrics and supplies.
The only instructions I can find online are saying to use the diamond cloth pieces as well as the triangle ones. I would rather just use all diamond pieces.

I have a Kenmore 385.12102990 sewing machine and my top thread is getting cut every time the needle goes down. It is getting stuck on the removable piece that goes in before the bobbin. I’m sewing a king size quilt together on my sewing machine. I know I need to roll half of it up and place under the arm to get to the middle but where do I start to sew? Do I sew from end to end starting at the middle? or do I sew from the center to the end starting at the middle? I am using spray on basting and cotton batting.
